Somebody save Zimbabwe from Mugabe!

The devil has colonized Zimbabwe. Once I thought he was senile but now I am convinced beyond doubt the devil himself is Mugabe. Under Mugabe's corrupt and vicious tyranny the country is in ruins. Public health care system, education, water, sanitation and all other basic infrastructures’ are in a mess. Unemployment is soaring, prices are galloping and the economy is a wreck. With a hyperinflation of over 230 million percent, a country once regarded as the "bread basket" of Africa now has its citizens surviving daily from hand to mouth for those who can. Thanks to Mugabe there is a redefinition of poverty no longer as the burden of the poor but of the populace. Everyday news of disease, death, decay, destruction and collapse fight for prominence from the country. And like my five year old son who thinks superheroes are real I am almost tempted to believe someone somewhere will “fly” to Zimbabwe to pry these people out of his hands. But the devil has declared "I will never, never, never surrender ... Zimbabwe is mine". You dare not protest or you're hacked to pieces and flushed down the dip-tanks. So what else does the devil do but to "steal, kill and destroy"? No this is too much for a superhero, come Lord please come!

Just last Friday January 16, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe announced that it would soon introduce the Z$100 trillion note. Less than 3 days after issuing the Z$50 billion note. A bill which can only buy 3 loaves of bread at the very most, the central bank declared the notes will be released for the “convenience of the public”. Convenience? A currency officially rejected in the country because of its poor value? Where would be “trillionaires” on the streets of Zimbabwe are ravaged by cholera and can barely feed? While the whole world continues to watch, waiting for Zimbabwe to join the list of war torn countries in Africa and the next potential country for Genocide, his wife and entourage are busy shopping in Hong Kong mindless of the hunger and deterioration.

Pray what else does Mugabe and his arch agents want to achieve after 28 years of authoritarianism? Where are his children trained in world best Universities with the looted funds of Zimbabwe? If their father is senile what about them? Are they inept or heartless as well to draw his attention to the mockery he has made the country globally? How can a man once popular and admired by his people for his political bravery be so fixated and overtaken with bitterness and dictatorship?

As the last-ditch effort for a unity government without inequity between Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and Mugabe’s Zimbabwe African National Union (Zanu) reach a deadlock today one only hopes that the world does not allow the looming chaos in Zimbabwe unfold.
