Is Africa avenged?

Uruguay is out of the World Cup. I know I shouldn’t but I’m happy, though not as ecstatic. After their devious win over Ghana to snatch the semi-final slot I know I’m not the only one in the world who didn’t wish them good! Reacting to their semi-final defeat by Netherlands the Uruguay president Jose Mujica declares he’s proud of the team. "Uruguay played with great dignity. It was a beautiful game. Five minutes more and we might have drawn,” he concludes. Shame, how would he have known that all of Africa set up a fasting and prayer vigil to get rid of them since their match with the African hopeful? I shudder to think what hideous comments would flood the Internet if Uruguay had won the semi -final and gone ahead to win the cup. Some people say they are not to be held responsible “Ghana was not meant to be in the semi-final”, and I wonder what universal law pronounced thus. Ghana gave it all they had, but whatever or whoever was in charge of awarding goals that day said no.

But are we avenged yet? Why are we excluded from our own masquerade dance? Can we now hold our head up high and say, yes we brought our best masquerade but the ground was slippery?
